The Relationship Between "Social Support" and "Resiliency" Among Cancer Patients Mohammad Rajeiyan[1] , Naser Goodarzi[2] Received: 9/10/2015 Accepted: 25/4/2016 Abstract: Today, though people live with cancer for a longer period, the concern about the problems cancer patients and their families are increasing. In this context, the results of several studies suprrt that access to social suport of cancer patients has some effect on adaptation and resistance against the disease. Accordingly, in the present study with survey method using a questionnaire, to study the relationship between social support and resiliency among cancer patients was discussed. The population of this research include block blood patients of Imam Reza (AS) hospital the Army of Islamic republic of Iran Who; from the date on 2015/01/05 till 2015/02/20 have been in the hospital or have been referred for outpatient treatment. The number of these patients was 100, which uses Morgan table, 80 samples were selected based on availability sample method. Data analysis using statistical software SPSS (version 18) and to test the hypotheses, Pearson correlation coefficient and multivariate linear regression were used. The findings suggest that there is a significant relationship between social support and resiliency. Results of regression analysis shows that the correlation between social support and resiliency is equal to 0.66 and also, the coefficient of determination (R2=0.43) in regression equation confirms that social support are able to predict 43% of the variances of resiliency in among cancer patients. Thus, it can be said that, despite the physical hardships faced by cancer patients, appropriate social support can be provide to strengthen the resilience of the patients moved and finally, it can be expected that adaptation and coping with cancer increase in people with this disease.
