The status and care of the elderly are now one of the most critical issues in society. The goal of this study was to explore the attitudes of women in Shiraz City towards elderly care and also the generational disparity between these attitudes. The statistical population of this study included women 20-55 years old in Shiraz which is grouped into two generations of 20-34 years and 35-55 years old. The respondents including 384 females were selected through stratified sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and both descriptive and inferential statistics were analyzed using the SPSS. The Cronbach's alpha coefficient was computed to check the validity of the research scales (attitudes towards the elderly, attitude towards caring for the elderly, religiosity, and, relationships within the family). The findings revealed that there is a significant difference in the attitude of two generations of women towards caring for the elderly and that people belonging to the younger generation have a more positive attitude towards elderly care. Attitudes towards aging, supportive family relationships, being a householder, family size, and age were significant variables determining attitudes towards caring for the elderly.

Music therapy is the use of musical skills to improve physical, mental function and emotional-social reactions, to help develop motor, academic, communication, social and emotional abilities, and ultimately to improve the quality of life. The aim of this study was to investigate the difference in quality of life of the elderly aged 60 years and older living in 60 nursing homes in the two modes of receiving and not receiving inactive music therapy. The statistical population was 1800 people; The calculated sample size was calculated using Cochran's formula of 318 people and the questionnaires were distributed using simple cluster and random sampling method. Data collection tool is a standard 26-item quality of life questionnaire based on the Likert scale. The research method is methodologically quantitative and comparative. Findings indicate that the hypotheses about the difference in quality of life (Sig = 0.000), environmental health (Sig = 0.001), social relations (Sig = 0.011), physical health (Sig = 0.048), Mental health (Sig = 0.000) of the elderly has been confirmed in terms of receiving and not receiving inactive music therapy and the quality of life of elderly men is better than elderly women. Numerous music therapies such as playing music, singing, etc. can be taken to improve the physical and mental performance of the elderly to help increase their life expectancy and reduce mental illness.

One of the important issues facing Tehrani families is the protection of the elderly. Future demographic, family, economic, and cultural changes will add to those more complex dimensions. In this study, we seek to provide strategies to support the elderly and their families. The method of this research is a combination. In the first part of the work, through the systematic review of the aging research and statistical forecasts, the aging support scenarios are extracted and in the second part the SWOT analysis model is used to provide strategies based on each scenario. Proponents of family support for aging are "socio-cultural status" and "resources at their disposal". From the combination of these two proponents, four possible scenarios are extracted. The strategies extracted for these four scenarios were outlined in three main areas; Caregiver Support Strategies, Elderly Support Strategies, Aging Costing Strategies. Alongside these three areas, strategies have been put forward to support the role of NGOs and the integrated information system of aging.

Along with population aging the gerontological social work, as a specialist area of social work practice, has become significant for research and policy. Well-being and life satisfaction among elderly are important and key issue in the gerontological social work. This article aims to assess the life satisfaction of the elderly and its related factors. The data were collected by a survey among 600 elderly aged 60 and over in the 22 districts of Tehran, who selected through a multistage probability sampling. The mean age of the elderly was 70 years old, 17% of the elderly were illiterate, and 16% of them lived alone. The results indicate a decrease in life satisfaction in the elderly with age. The results of the multivariate analysis revealed that health status, social support, age, employment status, education, and SES had a significant effect on life satisfaction of elderly people and explained 37% of variance in life satisfaction of elderly people. Hence, poor health statuses, lack of social support and poor financial resources have the greatest impact on the satisfaction of the elderly. Social protection of the family and government support and welfare programs can play an important role in increasing the happiness and life satisfaction in old age.
